Our founder, Diane Gross lost her farm, investment property, and home in 2001. When you speak with her, she will tell you, with emotion still raw in her voice, that she remembers the auction like yesterday. 

In frantic hopes to bring enough money to pay off the huge debt, she went into additional debt to subdivide the investment property of 46 acres across the street from her family home into 3-acre lots. 
She also surveyed land to set up additional lots along the road, chopping up the beautiful flat, fertile farmland which was adjacent to the family farm and farm house. All the lots offered a gorgeous view looking out over the valley.  To her surprise, all the lots had competing bidders and were sold at top dollar, (even in this remote part of the state).  She remembers to this day, over 20 years later, talking with the auctioneer after it was all over making the comment ”well at least we are way over what I owe so they will not come after me and sue me for more money!!”
